MxPx began with the name Plaid enlarged. Initially, as a Christian band-reasoned, they started playing music inspired by the offspring, NOFX, and the Southern California skate punk bands. The trio - Mike Herrera, Yuri Ruley, and Andy Husted - were classmates at Central Kitsap High School in nearby Silverdale, WA and 15-year-olds when they are formed.
